Unity Festival - bigger and better
25/10/11 18:39
Here’s a taste of this years Unity Festival, held in Murwillumbah last Saturday. The weather gods and goddesses smiled on us, the food and music was great and the atmosphere was really sweet and cruisy. We had a great time but sore feet by the end of it! Last Saturday saw us with the wild women of Wild Honey again for the Supa Slinky performance night at Byron Bay. Another great and very diverse night of perfomances by some gorgeous and very talented women, including the “Queen of Slink” Deb Rubin from San Francisco. To see heaps more photos just go to our client galleries.

Wild Honey!

We took part in the Wild Honey Dance Festival - this time as videographers for the public performance night held at Ocean Shores last Saturday.
With Alan using the wide-angle lens on the 5D to record the video, I had the longer lens (70 to 200mm for those who care about such things), I was constrained to either capturing close-ups of the dancers or to moving back and shooting over the audience (and missing out on the twirling skirts and legs anyway). So I went with the flow and aimed to capture the colour, the movement and the expressions of the dancers. It was a great night with a huge variety of styles that really showcased what it seemed to me that Wild Honey is all about - women moving their bodies in such an expressive and sensual dance style, which is at the same time wild and free and incredibly disciplined.

Jamie dancing in the light
22/10/10 11:56
Last Wednesday was another rainy day, but in the shelter of Origin Arts Dance Studio we had a great dance and photography session with Jamie Bell. Although her dance style has changed over the years, she hasn’t forgotten how to leap, and was the perfect model and performer for what we were aiming for. It was a great chance to utilize some flash and light modification techniques that we have been exploring. We hope you enjoy the results!
